Anonymous asked: I think you're missing out on what makes Enter Shikari such a good band. It's the unique, daring attitude they have towards their music. They couldn't care less what most people want to hear. That's the music they enjoy playing and the 'wubwubwub' parts purely enhance the songs live. It gets everybody bouncing. Better than a simple sing-a-long
I wouldn’t say i miss out on it. I would say, i dont care. Or, i don’t like it. I mean, i like them as a band. I like their most of their previous stuff. But unique and daring got them Take to the Skies. A slight change in sound and maturity got us Common Dreads, and that’s lovely.
Flash Flood, however, isn’t as good. It’s the same song 11 times, basically. No thematic change throughout the album other than “We’re very upset with the actions of the previous generation”. Nothing new there. And, if they couldn’t care less about their reception, it’d just be Rou Reynolds recording an hours worth doing the laundry, tidying about the studio. Everything is made for an audience.
Going wubwubwub live, to me, doesn’t enhance dick, and there’s plenty of bouncing to be had in, say, every other part of any other song they have recorded to date. A tempo breaking chunk chucked in from another genre, in particular another genre i don’t like, weakens the song. Also, what’s wrong with singalongs? I’d be willing to bet cash money that when you see them live, you sing along to every word.
