It’s so completely harrowing and unrelenting in its ugly and tragic realism that it’s too compelling to turn away from, though you may barely have the stomach to keep going. Somewhere between the eye-watering finale of Grave of the Fireflies and the total decay and abandon of The Road, there is Threads.
